Unexpected uses of expanded polystyrene, such as insulation and cushioning applications [Presentation of case study collection].

We will solve your problems with expanded polystyrene! We will introduce unexpected developed products and applications that utilize the characteristics of cushioning materials and shape diversity.

At Toho Industry, we have been working on development and product commercialization based on our own developed mold technology to meet the diverse needs of our customers. There are various uses for expanded polystyrene that are surprisingly not well known, and we solve customer problems based on our experience and knowledge in line with their needs! To pursue stable quality and improved safety of expanded polystyrene, we quantify strength and cooling performance, conduct various tests, and propose products suitable for your requests based on the results. Examples include side strength tests, bottom strength tests, cooling performance tests, and transportation vibration tests. [Example of products developed] ◆ Koi transportation container 《Challenge》 During summer, the outside temperature is high, and there were no containers capable of responding to temperature changes, limiting the timing and quantity of transport. 《Solution》 The insulation properties of expanded polystyrene stabilize the water temperature inside the container, allowing for overseas exports throughout the year, and the shape prevents shifting, ensuring safety even when stacked. *For more details, please contact us or refer to our [case study collection].

SAM Method

Extremely lightweight with a density of about 1/100 that of sand! Processing to match the slope shape can also be easily done on-site.

The technology is a cushioning method using expanded polystyrene for rockfall mitigation. The "SAM Foam," made of expanded polystyrene, is extremely lightweight with a density about 1/100 that of sand, significantly reducing dead weight. Additionally, due to its lightweight nature, it does not require large construction machinery for transportation and installation, allowing for manual labor. Furthermore, it can be easily processed on-site to match the slope shape. 【Features of SAM Foam】 ■ Significantly reduces dead weight ■ No lateral pressure occurs even when loads are applied to the top through stacking ■ Does not bond with water, resulting in very little water absorption over time ■ There is almost no need to consider the effects of water even under high humidity conditions ■ Lightweight, so it does not require large construction machinery for transportation and installation *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us.

Co-polymer foam for automobiles - ARCEL

Switching from olefin-based materials to achieve both impact absorption performance and cost-effectiveness in automotive parts.

In the automotive industry, high shock absorption performance is required to prevent component damage. In particular, energy absorption during collisions and protection from vibrations and shocks during transportation are directly related to the safety and durability of the products. Insufficient shock absorption can lead to increased damage in the event of an accident and early deterioration of components. ARCEL is a foam that combines the moldability and dimensional stability of EPS with the strength, elasticity, and toughness of EPE, addressing these challenges. 【Application Scenarios】 - Cushioning materials for automotive interior and exterior parts - Fixing and protecting onboard equipment 【Benefits of Implementation】 - Improved safety due to high shock absorption - Reduced risk of component damage - Contribution to improved fuel efficiency through weight reduction
